Family Update - April 30, 2023

Dear Families,

Many thanks to our PTO for surprising all students with ice cream and other frozen desserts last Thursday!  It was an unexpected treat on a beautiful day, and students really enjoyed it!

As a reminder, all offices throughout the district will be closed this Tuesday, May 2 for professional development.

If you have a student in 6th grade and would like to help with the class party, we could use extra  hands.  Please see details below, and thank you for considering!

There is a required meeting for students who will be attending the Washington, DC trip and their parents this Thursday, May 4, at 7:30 pm (additional details below).

We hope you are enjoying the extended weekend with your family!

SERVICE LEARNING SUPPORT OPPORTUNITY - Mrs. Tarr and Mr. Moul's classes engaged in service learning this week as students from Ms. Brown's Global History classes at UAHS shared information about the recent earthquakes in Syria and Turkey.  They learned about the causes of earthquakes, why buildings are more and less susceptible to earthquake damage, and the humanitarian crisis that follows major quakes.  They also learned how young people can make a difference in the world, even in places far from home.  If you would like to support this service learning activity, you may purchase a t-shirt by clicking the QR code on the flier attached.  Deadline to place your order is May 5. Thank you!

SUMMER UNIFORM ORDERING FOR 23-24 UAHS MARCHING BAND STUDENTS:

Summer uniforms can be ordered on-line until May 1st using the link below. If this deadline is missed, we will open another shop around May 15th.

NEW band members MUST have this to participate in the 4th of July Parade and any event where summer uniform is designated by Mr. Fessler as the uniform of the day. Please consult the BSN size chart before ordering as the uniform can run a little smaller than normal, especially the female T-shirt may be snug. If you have questions please email Michael Geygan at [email protected]

SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL SURVEY FOR GRADES 3-12 - Upper Arlington Schools will engage in the Panorama social-emotional survey for students in grades 3-12. We have been participating in this twice annual survey for two years now, and are impressed with the feedback from students and the quality of feedback the reports provided. Panorama aligns with the well-being priority in our strategic plan and provides valuable feedback to inform our work and meet student needs.

As a school, our students will be engaging in the Panorama survey Tuesday, May 9 during Flex. You may read more information about the survey here. While we ask that all of our students participate, as with all surveys, Panorama is voluntary. If you wish to opt your child out of the Panorama survey, simply email their school counselor and we will honor that request.
