Penny Stires recommended as next principal of Hastings Middle School

Penny Stires will be recommended as the next principal of Hastings Middle School at the May 9 regular meeting of the Board of Education.


Mrs. Stires has 30 years of experience in education and currently serves as the principal of Fort Collins High School in Fort Collins, Colorado.  She also has nearly 20 years of experience as a middle school administrator, both in Colorado and central Ohio.  


Mrs. Stires holds a bachelor’s degree in special education from The Ohio State University and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Wright State University.  


She was selected for the Hastings principal position following a thorough interview process that included students, staff and parents.  She brings to the Hastings community a strong background in special education and school improvement and a dedication to building strong relationships with students, staff and families.


Mrs. Stires is excited to return to Ohio to serve the Upper Arlington community.  She will be working closely with Mr. Robertson and Assistant Principal Megan Lippert to ensure a smooth transition.
