Your Voice Matters! May 26 family update on 2020-2021 planning process

Dear families,

I want to provide you with a quick update today on our planning and feedback process for the 2020-2021 school year. Please continue reading and watch my video update here.

Family survey on distance learning: I’d like to thank the many, many families who have already completed the distance learning survey! Your feedback on your children’s experience this spring with distance learning is an important first step in this process. As a reminder, this survey closes at the end of the day today, Tuesday, May 26 - so please share your thoughts if you haven’t done so yet!

Family survey on 2020-2021 school year planning: Today, we are launching a second family survey - this time for both current families and families with students new to our school district for the 2020-2021 school year. We’re asking you to share your thoughts for the upcoming school year based on what you know right now about the pandemic. This survey will remain open through Tuesday, June 2. Please click here to share your thoughts!

We’re already beginning to review all of the survey data we’ve gathered so far from our families and staff, and we’ve launched a number of focus groups with students, families and staff to gather additional feedback.

We’re also in the process of gathering feedback from our students as well. Middle school and high school students received a survey link in their email at the end last week, and that survey remains open through Monday, June 1. Elementary families with students in grades 3 through 5 will be receiving a separate email with a survey link for their students later tonight. Please encourage your students to share their thoughts!

Remember - your voice matters, and we are going to do everything we can to get a wide range of data. This process is much more rapid than our planning processes of the past. We’ll have three weeks to gather data and two weeks to design prototypes — and this will all culminate with my recommendation to the Board of Education in late June.

Like all other school districts in Ohio, we will work within the framework of guidelines from state and local health officials for the fall. We've all seen what a fluid situation this has been, and we will need to continue to be as flexible as possible.

Please take a few moments to complete the distance learning survey, if you haven’t already, and the 2020-2021 planning survey. Your voice matters!

Have a great week, and as always, go Bears!

Sincerely,
Paul Imhoff, Ed.D.
