Windermere Weekly Family Update 5-9-21

Windermere Weekly Parent Update

5.9.21

Happy Sunday, Windermere!  It was SO wonderful to see so many of you Thursday evening at our Windermere Family Read Together event!!  I love this community and am very grateful for each of you.  PTO, thank you!!!  Mrs. Hemmelgarn, BRAVO!  And, a huge THANK YOU, as well, to the awesome student council!  Mountview Christian Church, Officer Stanko, and our parent volunteers were also invaluable!!!  In addition, many parents helped to get all of our families parked safely, organize spiritwear sales, and gathered community donations for our prizes. Due to the participation with our PTO fundraising events, like local restaurant nights and flower sales, PTO was able to fund this year’s event for our Windermere families...all for FREEEE!  WOOHOO!!  Windermere ROCKS!!!!

Thank you, too, for all of our treats this week!  Our staff felt the love and appreciation.  As I share all the time, we love what we do and hope it shows!

To all of the moms out there, Happy Mother’s Day today!!!!!  I hope you have been spoiled.

Julie

Thank you PTO!!

Staff appreciation week has been amazing!! Thank you so much for the love you have shown us this week.

Spirit Week is coming!

We are excited for our visiting author Dan Santat next week!  He will be Zooming us from California!  (There is no book sale this year, but you can find autographed copies at your local bookstore.) To prepare for Dan's Friday Zoom visit, Student Council will be hosting Spirit Week!  The inspiration for our themes are based on Dan Santat's new book A New Day!

Monday 5/10: Super Hero or Heroine Day! Not all superheros wear capes!

Tuesday 5/11: Cats vs. Dogs Day! Who do you love more!  How will you show it?!

Wednesday 5/12: Hawkie Day!  Wear your green and blue!

Thursday 5/13: Throwback Thursday! Dress like someone in the past!

Friday 5/14 : Be YOU! It's YOUR day!  (Dan visit!)

Library Media Center News

Thank you all for coming out to celebrate a classic book on Thursday night!  Our first ever Windermere Drive-In movie of Stuart Little was a success!  A great big thank you goes out to PTO for helping organize and fund the event and to our student council members for helping organize and promote the read aloud.  Until next year...Keep reading Windermere families!

All books are now due back!  Please start sending those library books back.  On Friday the 14th, our library clerk Mrs. Hartmus ([email protected]) will begin contacting student families about replacing missing items.  Thank you!

Withdrawing Students

Families with confirmed plans on moving or withdrawing from Windermere/Upper Arlington Schools must turn in their iPad’s and/or laptops on the last day of school to their homeroom teacher or the media specialist.

Please make sure you have a district withdrawal form on file with Ms. Maria.

Families who move or withdraw over the summer months must return the district owned iPad to The Graf Center and can make arrangements by emailing [email protected]. Failure to return the iPad will result in a $310 fee and a transcript hold until the device is returned or the fee is paid. Additionally the iPad will be remotely locked and unusable.  Building secretaries and administrators are to notify withdrawing families of this requirement at the time of withdrawal, and copy [email protected].

Use Google TakeOut to Move Your School Files to Another Account Before the Last Day of School

This is important for Seniors and Withdrawing Families

Please Watch This Video on how to use Google TakeOut for Schools and follow the directions BEFORE your last day of school.  If you have used your school email address to sign up for memberships or accounts to different sites, make sure you change those accounts because you will lose access to your school email at the end of June.

Lost and Found

Please have your students check our (huge) lost and found tables. Also, feel free to check with Wickliffe as they have a very large lost and found.

Anything not claimed will be donated on the last day of school.
