Wickliffe Kindergarten Program

Wickliffe Progressive Elementary School is excited to welcome the Upper Arlington Class of 2037 in the fall of 2024! Founded in 1972, Wickliffe is a choice school that offers the progressive / informal instructional program to students living within the Greensview, Windermere and Tremont attendance areas

Upper Arlington Schools is proud to offer an all-day kindergarten program at all five elementary schools, including Wickliffe Progressive Elementary School. Our all-day kindergarten program builds on the high-quality academic program offered in the Upper Arlington Schools.

All-day kindergarten better meets the needs of our developing learners so that they are able to learn and grow academically, socially and emotionally.

The full-day program provides more time to develop students’ skills in the core academic areas while also maintaining our focus on developing the whole child through social and emotional learning and growth.

OUR SCHOOL

The new Wickliffe Progressive Elementary School opened for the start of the 2020-2021 school year. These new and modern learning spaces are supporting our students as they develop the skills necessary to serve, lead and succeed. You can watch the video below to take a virtual tour of the new Wickliffe Progressive Elementary School.

OUR SCHOOL DAY

At Wickliffe Progressive Elementary School, our school day is from 8:15 a.m. to 2:50 p.m. For our incoming kindergarten students, the school day will be structured to support them as they adjust to a full-day learning program. The school day will be built around the learning blocks for the core content areas - math, reading, writing, science/social studies - with time for play and “brain breaks” woven in throughout the day. Students will have time to work with teachers individually or in small groups to support their learning and reinforce or extend where needed.  Each week, students will also have a related arts block that rotates between music, art and PE.

our program

Wickliffe was founded in 1972 by a group of educators, parents and OSU professors who were committed to a common educational philosophy reflected through the practices of progressive education. Our daily teaching practices are guided by the Ten Foundational Principles of Progressive Education

Classes are configured in multi-age groupings — K/1, 2/3 and 4/5 — for a two-year teacher experience.
